As relief efforts continue following Hurricane Helene, a Louisville nonprofit is finding ways to help.

Water By Women sent 6,500 water filters to Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Officials with the nonprofit say the filters can provide safe drinking water from any source, including flood and rainwater, to up to four families.

"People are facing months and months of rebuilding if not years. The water infrastructures are badly damaged. Even when water comes back online and they do a boil advisory that may be repeated over and over," said Sister Larraine Lauter, Water By Women executive director.

The nonprofit is also collecting coats and gloves to donate to those affected by the hurricane.
